summative assessment done at the end of the year, used to evaluate all of the info taught
informal assessments (formative) happens frequently, scores are not compared to other students, are authentic to assess real performance (Informal Reading Inventory)
independent reading level self-read at 95% word accuracy)
instructional reading level with teacher support (90% word accuracy) - used during guided reading
frustration reading level difficult for student to read (less than 90% word accuracy)
formal assessments (summative) results compare to other students in same grade/age; Ex - Norm referenced standardized tests - compare similar students; Criterion referenced - results are compared to a standard to determine mastery of the standard
fiction fake - made up - fairytales, science fiction, romance novels
non-fiction real - true events and informational - biographies, cookbooks
