TermDefinition
Rocky Mountains. the major mountain range in western North America .
glacier. a huge, slow-moving mass of snow and ice.
Great Lakes. the world's largest group of freshwater lakes.
tributary. a river or stream that flows into a larger river.
Tundra. a cold, dry region covered with snow more than half. the year
Permafrost. a permanently frozen layer of ground below the top of soil.
Prairie. a region of flat or rolling land covered with grass.
Province. a political division of land in Canada.
Alluvial soil fertile topsoil left by a river, especially after a flood.
Agribusiness a large company that runs huge farms.
Hydroelectricity electric power produced by moving water.
Fossil fuel a fuel formed over millions of years from animals and plant remains.
