what are atoms? atoms are building blocks of matter
what are man made elements called ? synthetic elements
what are the five elements that make up living things? oxygen,carbon,hydrogen,nitrogen and calcium
which element is the lightest? hydrogen is the lightest element
what is a molecule? is the smallest particle of a substance consisting of two or more atoms that bond together.
what is a compound? a subtance that is made of different elements combined in a fixed porportion
what is the nucleus made of? necleons which are building blocks of the neucleus
what are protons and neutrons? protons are electrically charged positve and neutrons are electrically neutral
what are isotopes? are atoms of the same element with different numbers of neutrons
what is a covalent bond and an ionic bond? a covalent bond is when two atoms share electrons and an ionic bond is when electrons are transferred between atoms
what are isotopes ? atoms that have the same element having different numbers of neutrons.
what are the four states of matter ? solid , liquid, gas, and plasma
what is atomic mass number? the total number of nucleons in the nucleus of an atom
what is atomic number ? the number of protons in the nucleus
what percentage of the material on earth is fromed from a dozen elements ? 99 percent
