Daily Tide Water on the side of the Earth closest to the Moon is most strongly affected by the Moon's gravitational pull
Neap Tide occurs at the first and third quarter Moon phases; the Sun is at a right angle to the Moon
Spring Tide occurs at the full and new Moon phases; the Earth, Moon and Sun are in alignment, pulling the water in the same direction
Tide The rising and falling of the oceans due to the gravitational attraction of the Moon and Sun; usually occurs twice a day
Rotation Turning around an axis
Revolution Movement around another object
Axis A real or imaginary line on which an object rotates
Tilt Cause to slope
Solstice Earth's tilt reaches maximum angle relative to the Sun.
Summer Solstice The one day a year that has the longest amount of daylight
Winter Solstice The one day a year that has the shortest amount of daylight.
Equinox Earth's tilt is straight relative to the Sun, happens twice a year at the beginning of Spring and Autumn
Seasons Caused by the tilt of the Earth away or toward the Sun from Earth's yearly orbit
Full moon The Earth is between the Sun and Moon, allowing the Moon to fully reflect the Sun's light
New Moon The Moon is between the Sun and Earth, blocking the Moon from reflecting any of the Sun's light
