What is a reflex This a rapid and automatic response to a stimulus Reflexes are involuntary
How can reflexes be helpful These protect any damage being dealt to the body tissues and could help escape predators
Simple reflex involves 3 neurons Sensory neuron Relay neuron Motor neuron
What is the sensory neuron This detects the stimulus and sends an impulse to the spinal cord
What is the relay neuron Located in the central nervous system and connects the sensory neurone to the motor neurone
What is the motor neurone This carries the impulse to an effector which responds
