TermDefinition
Additional Liability Insurance (ALI) an optional coverage that provides extra protection beyond standard liability policies.
American Automobile Association (AAA) a federation of motor clubs throughout North America.
Amtrak a federal passenger railway service in the US, operated by the National Railroad Passenger Corporation.
Boarding Pass a pass for boarding an aircraft, given to passengers when checking in.
Bumped refuse a reserved place on a flight as a consequence of deliberate overbooking
Business Class a class of seating on an aircraft that is superior to economy class but less expensive than first class, intended especially for people travelling on business
Charter the hiring of an aircraft, ship, or motor vehicle for a special purpose
Collision Damage Waive an added benefit sold by car rental agencies that covers damage to or loss of a rental car.
Connecting Flight when you have to take another flight to reach a destination.
Direct Flight one or more intermediate stops but no change of aircraft
Economy Class the lowest travel class of seating in air travel, rail travel, and sometimes ferry or maritime travel.
Excess Baggage Charge refers to the additional fees charged by airlines for luggage that exceeds the airline's standard allowance in terms of weight, size, or quantity.
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) a U.S. federal government agency within the U.S. Department of Transportation that regulates civil aviation in the United States and surrounding international waters.
First Class refers to the highest level of service and comfort offered by an airline.
Motorcoach a coach.
Nonstop Flight no intermediate stops, as opposed to a direct flight, which is any flight with no change in flight number, but which may include one or more stops.
One-Way Trip a travel paid by a fare purchased for a trip on an aircraft, a train, a bus, or some other mode of travel without a return trip.
Open-Jaw Trip an airline return ticket where the destination and/or the origin are not the same in both directions.
Overbook accept more reservations for (a flight or hotel) than there is room for:
Round-Trip a journey to one or more places and back again, especially by a route that does not cover the same ground twice.
Standby a person or thing ready to be deployed immediately, especially if needed as backup in an emergency:
Tourist Destination a place of interest that tourists visit, typically for its inherent or exhibited natural or cultural value, historical significance, natural or built beauty, offering leisure and amusement
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) an agency of the United States Department of Homeland Security that has authority over the security of transportation systems within and connecting to the United States.
