| Acid rain | Harmful rain caused by the burning of fossil fuels |
| Conservation | the act of saving, protecting, or using resources wisely |
| Deposition | The dropping off of eroded soil and bits of rock |
| erosion | the process of weathered rock moving from one place to another |
| Floodplain | Land near a body of water that is likely to flood |
| levee | An embankment to prevent the overflow of a river |
| Strom surge | Hurricane winds and waves push water onto shore |
