| biofouling | the undesirable accumulation of organisms that settle on the bottoms of boats, pilings, and other submerged structures |
| ink sac | they can distract potential predators by emitting a cloud of dark fluid produced |
| pen | the reduced thin shell of squids embedded in the upper surface of the mantle |
| crystalline style | continually rotates the food to help in its digestion |
| open circulatory system | blood flows out of vessels into open blood spaces |
| ganglion | Clusters of nerve cells in gastropods and bivalves. |
