Photosynthesis The process by which plants use sunlight to produce food glucose from carbon dioxide & water. Photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplast and generates oxygen as a byproduct.
Chemical Formula a representation that shows the types and quantities of atoms in a chemical substance
Reactant the starting materials for a reaction.
Products chemical substance formed as a result of a chemical reaction.
Chloroplast An organelle found only in plants and photosynthetic protists that absorbs sunlight and uses it to drive the synthesis of organic compounds from carbon dioxide and water.
Stomata Pores in the cuticle of a plant through which gas exchanges occurs. Carbon dioxide enters and oxygen exits through the stomata. Found on underside of the leaves
Carbon dioxide The cycle of Carbon & Oxygen between producers performing photosynthesis & organisms performing respiration. Reactants of photosynthesis
Water abbreviated as H2O reactant of photosynthesis
Glucose A simple sugar which is an important energy source and is a type of carbohydrate. It is created through photosynthesis. Compounds of C, H & O.
Oxygen This molecule is a product of photosynthesis
Xylem Tissue that transports water and dissolved minerals in plants. Vein that brings water to the chloroplasts
Phloem Tissue that transports sugar in plants. vein that brings sugar to other parts of the plant from the chloroplasts
