| EEG | electroencephalography (EEG) (eh-LEK-troh-en-SEF-ah-LAWG-rah-fee) procedure used to examine the electrical activity of the brain |
| GERD | gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) (GAS-troh-eh-SOF-ah-JEE-al REE-fluks dih-ZEEZ) disease in which acid comes up from the stomach and damages the esophagus |
| I&D | incision and drainage (I&D) (in-SIZH-un and DRAYN-ij) to cut into a wound to allow trapped infected liquid to drain |
