Measurement The process of finding the number that tells us the size or amount of something accurately.
Unit A fixed quantity used as a standard for measurement.
Metre (m) The standard unit for measuring length, used for reasonably long lengths.
Centimetre (cm) A unit used to measure short lengths (1 metre = 100 centimetres).
Millimetre (mm) A smaller unit used to measure very short lengths (1 centimetre = 10 millimetres).
Ruler A measuring stick marked with units along its edges for measuring length, typically made of plastic, cardboard, metal, or fabric.
Measuring tape A soft fabric tape, marked with numbers representing inches or centimetres, used for measuring length, especially for tailoring or curved surfaces.
Mass The amount of material present in an object.
Gram (g) The standard unit for measuring mass, used for lighter objects.
Kilogram (kg) A unit for measuring heavier objects (1 kilogram = 1000 grams).
Weighing balance An instrument used with weights to weigh objects, indicating mass.
Weighing machine An instrument used to measure mass, often by standing on it or placing objects on a scale.
Weight The measurement of how an object’s matter is attracted towards the centre of the Earth or any other heavenly body with considerate mass; it changes with location and depends on gravity.
Capacity The quantity of liquid a container can hold.
Litre (l) The standard unit for measuring capacity, used for large quantities of liquid.
Millilitre (ml) A unit for measuring small quantities of liquid (1 litre = 1000 millilitres).
Measuring cylinder A laboratory tool used to measure the volume of liquids accurately.
Measuring can A container designed for measuring liquids, often with marked volumes.
Time A continuous, measurable quantity that defines the sequence of events.
Second (s) The standard unit of measuring time.
Hour A unit of time equal to 60 minutes.
Minute A unit of time equal to 60 seconds.
Clock A device used to measure and indicate time.
Watch A small clock worn on the wrist or carried.
Temperature The measure of hotness or coldness of an object.
Celsius (°C) scale A temperature scale where 0°C is the freezing point of water and 100°C is the boiling point.
Fahrenheit (°F) scale A temperature scale where 32°F is the freezing point of water and 212°F is the boiling point.
Kelvin (K) scale An absolute thermodynamic temperature scale where 0 K is absolute zero.
Thermometer A device used to measure temperature.
Clinical thermometer A specific type of thermometer used to measure body temperature.
