Cerebrum The largest part of the brain, responsible for conscious thought, decision-making, memory, emotions, and voluntary movement.
Cerebellum The part of the brain that coordinates balance, posture, and smooth, precise muscle movements.
Brain Stem The structure that connects the brain to the spinal cord and controls vital automatic functions such as breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure.
pons A part of the brain stem that helps regulate breathing and sleep and acts as a relay between different parts of the brain.
Medulla Oblongata The lowest part of the brain stem that controls vital involuntary functions such as heartbeat, breathing, swallowing, and blood pressure.
Parietal Lobe A lobe of the cerebrum involved in processing sensory information such as touch, temperature, pain, and spatial awareness.
Occipital Lobe The lobe of the brain responsible for visual processing and interpretation of what the eyes see.
Frontal Lobe The lobe involved in reasoning, planning, problem-solving, emotions, personality, and voluntary muscle movement.
Temporal Lobe The lobe responsible for hearing, language comprehension, memory, and emotion.
Motor Cortex A region of the frontal lobe that controls voluntary muscle movements.
Sensory Cortex A region of the parietal lobe that receives and processes sensory information from the body, such as touch and pain.
Corpus Callosum A thick band of nerve fibers that connects the left and right hemispheres of the brain, allowing them to communicate.
Pituitary Gland A small gland at the base of the brain that releases hormones controlling growth, metabolism, and other endocrine glands.
Thalamus A structure that acts as a relay station, sending sensory information to the appropriate areas of the cerebral cortex.
Hypothalamus A region that maintains homeostasis by regulating body temperature, hunger, thirst, emotions, and hormone release.
Hippocampus A structure involved in forming, organizing, and storing memories and in learning.
