The giver vocab part 2

QuestionAnswer
Gravitating (Verb) Move or be attracted by a strong force or pull. The hungrier I got, the more I gravitated toward the cafeteria.
Chortle (Verb) to laugh with a snorting chuckle muffled cheerful laugh. It was too funny, I couldn’t help but snort and chortle.
Infraction (Noun) the act of breaking the law or a rule. The officer wrote her a ticket for every infraction even though he pulled her over for a broken tail light.
Dosage (Verb) the amount of medication intended to be taken in a single serving. It is dangerous to give the wrong dosage of heart medicine. Too much can be fatal and too little could be just as bad.
Interdependence (noun) dependent on one another Each of the individual states within The United States work with interdependence. Each state works closely with the others
Indulgently (adverb) to yield to, satisy, or gratify desires or feelings. After fasting for my medical test, I indulgently heaped scoop after scoop of hot fudge onto my ice cream sundae
Exuberant (Adjective) overflowing with high spirits. I was so exuberant when I picked up my newborn puppies for the first time. They make me so happy!
Impatient (Adjective) Irritated or annoyed by delay After the third hour of waiting in the empty room, I began to grow impatient.
Buoyancy (noun) the power to float or rise in water The buoyancy of the seat cushions made them float along the top of the water even though the ship sank to the bottom.
Ritual (noun) a set procedure for religious rite The children stood each day for the ritual, placing their hands over their hearts and reciting the sacred words, “I pledge allegiance to the flag...”
Elder (Noun) a person born earlier; someone older My mother always taught me to respect my elders, for one day I would be old too.
Adherence (verb) to stick to or firmly attach to something. When working with high explosives, adherence (stick) to the rules is essential to staying in one piece.
Intrigue (verb) to plot craftily or underhandedly. He was going to get what he wanted either through force or more sneaky ways including intrigue
Retroactive (adjective) describes an action such as a law or rule that applies to events that happened before the law was made. My retroactive pay raise went through. I was paid the extra dollar an hour that they owed me for the last six years!
Serene (adjective) peaceful, calm, quiet. I’m off for a little rest and relaxation on a serene little beach far away from stress and aggravation... friendly clouds and happy trees are waiting for me there.
