| ADH (Anti diuretic hormone) | Hormone produced by hypothalamus that causes water retention in the kidney |
| Bladder | Sac filled with fluid or air. Holds urine produced in kidneys |
| Bowmans Capsule | Double walled cup shaped chamber at start of nephron |
| Diffusion | Movement of molecules or ions across an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration |
| Glomerular filtrate | Plasma that passes from the blood into bowmans capsule |
| Glomerulus | Knot of blood capillaries found in bowmans capsule |
| Homeostasis | Maintenance of a constant internal environment |
| Lenticels | Specialised pores in woody stems used for gaseous exchange |
| Nephron | Functional unit of kidney |
| Osmoregulationn | Control of water and salt levels in organisms |
| Osmosis | Movement of water from an area of high concentration of water to an area of low concentration of water across a semi permeable membrane |
| Pituitary gland | Gland attached to base of midbrain producing hormones |
| Plasma | Liquid part of blood composed of water and dissolved solutes |
| Sphincter Muscle | Ring of muscle surrounding an opening that controls the movement of substances through it |
| Urethra | Tube carrying urine out of bladder |
| Urination | Release of urine from bladder along urethra |
