Phenylketonuria Inherited metabolic disorder that prevents the body from breaking down amino acids, can lead to toxic build up and cause brain damage and intellectual disability.
Mesentery A fold of tissue connecting the intestines to the abdominal wall.

Adenocarcinoma A cancerous tumor in glandular cells
Communicable Disease a disease caused by bacteria, usually spreads from person to person or from infected surfaces
Idiopathic disorder A condition with an unknown cause
Dysplasia poor/bad development
Anaplasia a cell that has lost their specialized features.
Hemophilia genetic disorder where blood can’t clot properly
Adenosclerosis Hardening of the gland
Cytoplasm the fluid within a cell
Iatrogenic illness any injury/condition that comes from surgery or medication
Medical Assistant preps patients for examination, takes vital signs and medical history, performs basic laboratory tests and clean and maintains equipment. May also fill administrative roles such as the position of receptionist or office manager.

Medical Translator provides bilingual assistance for accurate communication between health care providers and non english speaking patients, a medical translator must know medical terminology in english and second language.
Genetics Counselor has a master degree in genetics counseling from an accredited program. Once certified they can counsel patients about the genetic link in certain conditions and give information to help patients and their families.

Ophthmaloscope an instrument used to examine the interior of the eye.
Transesophageal echocardiography an ultrasonic imaging technique used to evaluate heart structures.
Radiopaque material or tissue thick enough to block x-rays
Bruit An abnormal sound or murmur heard during auscultation.
Auscultation listening to sound within the body usually using a stethoscope.
Pericardiocentesis the puncture of the pericardial sac for the purpose of removing fluid.
Ketouria the presence of ketones in the urine.
Proteinuria the presence of an abnormal amount of protein in the urine
Rale an abnormal crackle like lung sound heard through a stethoscope during inspiration
Magnetic resonance imaging uses a combination of radical waves and a strong magnetic field to create signals that are sent to a computer and converted into images of any planes through the body.

Histologic Technician works under the supervision of an MT to cut and stain tissue specimens for microscopic examination
Medical Laboratory Assistant prepares specimens for testing and helios clean and maintain laboratory equipment.
Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of a pharmacist, preparing medications for dispensing to patients, labeling medications, preparing IV solutions and maintaining records and ordering supplies
Radiologic Technician works under the supervision of a radiologist to take x rays for diagnostic purposes and administer radiation and use nuclear medication medicine, ultrasound and MRI.
MRI Technologist An RT with specialized training who works with magnetic renaissance imaging
Radiation therapy technologist prepares cancer patients for treatment and administers prescribed doses of ionizing radiation to specific body parts
Sonographer conducts ultrasound tests, subspecialties in the field include echocardiography, neurosonography, obstetrics and gynecology, and vascular, sonography.
