| Phenylketonuria | Inherited metabolic disorder that prevents the body from breaking down amino acids, can lead to toxic build up and cause brain damage and intellectual disability. |
| Mesentery | A fold of tissue connecting the intestines to the abdominal wall. |
| Retroperitoneal | occurring behind the peritoneal membrane |
| Adenocarcinoma | A cancerous tumor in glandular cells |
| Communicable Disease | a disease caused by bacteria, usually spreads from person to person or from infected surfaces |
| Idiopathic disorder | A condition with an unknown cause |
| Dysplasia | poor/bad development |
| Anaplasia | a cell that has lost their specialized features. |
| Hemophilia | genetic disorder where blood can’t clot properly |
| Adenosclerosis | Hardening of the gland |
| Cytoplasm | the fluid within a cell |
| Iatrogenic illness | any injury/condition that comes from surgery or medication |
| Medical Assistant | preps patients for examination, takes vital signs and medical history, performs basic laboratory tests and clean and maintains equipment. May also fill administrative roles such as the position of receptionist or office manager. |

| Bruit | An abnormal sound or murmur heard during auscultation. |
| Auscultation | listening to sound within the body usually using a stethoscope. |
| Pericardiocentesis | the puncture of the pericardial sac for the purpose of removing fluid. |
| Ketouria | the presence of ketones in the urine. |
| Proteinuria | the presence of an abnormal amount of protein in the urine |
| Rale | an abnormal crackle like lung sound heard through a stethoscope during inspiration |
| Magnetic resonance imaging | uses a combination of radical waves and a strong magnetic field to create signals that are sent to a computer and converted into images of any planes through the body. |
