Argument and Claim

term

TermDefinition
Argument what the author wants to convince you of their position
Claim the author's main point
Evidence what the author uses to support their claim
Counterclaim the opposite viewpoint of the authors claim
Rebuttal when the author responds right to the counterclaim
Credibility the author is able to be beloved and trusted
Ethos emphasizes the speaker's credibility and authority conveys trustworthiness, expertise.
Pathos appeals to the audience's emotions is used to influence the audience to a desired belief or action.
Logos appeals to the audience's logic or reason uses any form of proof to influence an audience.
