Mystery Vocabulary

mystery a story in which a character needs to figure out who committed a crime
detective/sleuth investigator who is trained to track down clues crime - a puzzle or problem that needs to be solved
plot of a mystery the main purpose

victim character who was wronged, hurt, or killed in the story
witness someone who may have seen the crime in progress or have knowledge of it

red herring misleading clues to keep the reader in suspense
evidence aka clue --bringing all the clues together to figure it out
motive reason for committing a crime
