Argument and Claim

QuestionAnswer
Ethos emphasizes the speaker's credibility and authority
Pathos appeals to the audience's emotions
Logos appeals to the audience's logic or reason
Claim the author's main point, a statement he or she believes to be true
Credibility the author is able to be believed and trusted
Reliable Evidence information or data that is trustworthy, accurate, and consistent
Argument when the author wants to convince you of their position
Counterclaim the opposing viewpoint of the author's claim
Rebuttal when the author responds directly to the counterclaim
