insulin resistence a common health condition where the body's cells (in muscles, fat, and the liver) do not respond properly to the hormone insulin
auto immune disorder a condition that occurs when the body's immune system mistakenly attacks its own healthy tissues and organs
hypoglycemia low blood glucose (sugar) levels in the blood
hyperglycemia high blood glucose (sugar) levels
positive feedback loop a regulatory mechanism in biological systems where the end product of a process speeds up the production of that process
negative feed back loop primary regulatory mechanism used in biological systems to maintain stability and homeostasis
