| Biodiversity | The variety of life(different species ) |
| Species | A particular type of living thing that can reproduce by interbreeding among themselves |
| Keystone Species | A species that, if removed from an ecosystem, would cause a major change in that ecosystem |
| Organism | Any individual living thing |
| Limiting Factor | A biotic or abiotic environmental factor that restricts the growth of a population |
| Ecosystem | A natural community of plants, animals, and other living organisms and the physical (non-living) environment |
| Mutualism | A relationship between organisms or species that is helpful to both |
| Homeostasis | Process of maintaining a stable internal environment |
| Biotic Factor | Living or produced by living things |
| Abiotic Factors | Nonliving or produced by nonliving things |
| Population | A group of the same species that lives in the same area |
| Evolution | Process by which a species changes over time |
| Carrying Capacity | The maximum number of organisms an ecosystem can support |
| Adaptation | A process by which the heritable characteristics of a population change such that the organisms in the population become better able to survive and reproduce in their environment |
| Commensalism | A symbiotic relationship where one organism benefits and the other organism is neither harmed nor helped |
| Community | All of the interacting populations in an area |
| Competition | A condition that occurs when two or more organisms compete for the same resources within an ecological community |
| Niche | The ecological role played by an organism |
| Parasitism | A symbiotic relationship in which one organism benefits while the other is harmed |
| Predation | An interaction between organisms in which one organism captures and consumes another organism |
| Resource | A source or supply that can be used to benefit organisms |
