asexual reproduction one parent produces offspring that are genetically identical to the parent
Mitosis cell division resulting in two genetically identical cells
binary fission single celled organisms dividing to reproduce
budding new parent grow off of the parent organism (multicellular organisms)
sexual reproduction offspring produced from the combination of genetic information (DNA) from two parents, offspring are genetically unique
sex cell eggs and sperm (another term for gametes)
gametes eggs and sperm (another term for sex cells)
Fertilization Joining of egg and sperm
chromosome DNA molecule wrapped around proteins
flower reproductive structure of flowering plants
petals used to attract pollinators
stamen male reproductive structure in flowering plants
pollen makes male sex cell for flowering plants
pistil female reproductive structure in flowering plants
ovary part of the flower that protects the developing seed
pollination transfer of pollen from stamen (male part of the flower) to the pistil (female part of the flower)
seed structure that contains a young plant inside of a protective covering
cotyledon energy supply for the plant embryo
