Argument and Claim

QuestionAnswer
Ethos Emphasizes the speakers credibility and authority
Pathos Appeals to the audience's emotions
Logos Appeals to the audience's logic or reason
Claim The author's main point, a statement he or she believes to be true, must be arguable and provable.
Credibility The author is able to be believed or trusted.
Evidence Anything that can be used to prove something.
Rebuttal When the author responds directly to the counterclaim.
Counterclaim The opposite viewpoint of the author's claim.
Argument When the author wants to convince you of their position.
