Algebra Terms

QuestionAnswer
what does variable mean? A letter that represents and unknown value (Varies); can use any letter.
what does constant mean? A term without a variable; numbers
what does coefficient mean? The number part of a term with variables.
what does Term mean? is either a single number or variable, or numbers and variable multiplied together. Terms are usually separated by addition and subtraction signs.
What does like Terms mean? Two or more terms with the same variable or exponent
What does Algebraic expression? Has at least one variable and one operation.
What does sum mean? The answer you get from an addition problem
what does difference mean? the answer you get from a subtraction problem
what does product mean? The answer you get from a Multiplication problem
what does Quotient mean? The answer you get from a division problem
what does fewer than/ less than mean? Subtract and reverse
what does How much more/ less mean? subtract
what does % or fraction of mean? Multiply
what does is than/ from? reverse the order
what does each mean? divide
commutative property means? The order in which numbers are added or multiplied does not change the answer
Associative property means? The way in which numbers are Grouped when added or multiplied does not change the answer.
Additive inverse property means? Adding the number and its opposite will produce a sum of zero.
Multiplicative inverse property means? Multiplying any number and its inverse (reciprocal) equals one.
Identity Addition property means? The sum of an addend & zero is the same as the addend .
Identity Multiplication property means? The product of any factor and 1 is the same as the factor.
Associative property (x +7)+9=x+(7+9)
Associative property 4(3 . 9)= (4.3)9
Commutative property (x+7) + 9 =9+(7+x)
Commutative property 5 x 6 =6 x 5
Additive inverse property x + 0 =x
Multiplicative inverse property 6(1)=6
Multiplication identity property. 4 x 1/4 =1
Addition identity property -5+ 5 =0
Distributive property 4(x+3) =4x + 12
Distributive Property. 16 + 40 =8(2 + 5)
