| sum | answer to addition problem |
| difference | answer to subtraction problem |
| product | answer to multiplication problem |
| quotient | answer to division problem |

| associative property | the way in which numbers are grouped when added or multiplied does not change the answer. |
| commutative | the order in which numbers are added or multiplied does not change the answer. |
| identity property of addition | the sun of an addend & 0 is the same as the addend. |
| identity property of multiplication | the product of any factor & 1 is he same as the factor. |
| additive inverse property | adding a number and its opposite will produce a sum of zero. |
| multiplicative inverse property | multiplying any number and its inverse (reciprocal) equals one. |
| accosiative property | (x+7)+9=x+(7+9) |

| communicative property | (x+7)+9=9+(7+x) |
