| the product of any factor & 1 is the same as the factor | adding a number and its opposite will produce a sum of zero. |
| multiplicative inverse property | multiplying any number and its inverse (reciprocal) equals one |
| Associative Property | (x + 7) + 9 = x + (7 + 9) |
| Associative Property | 4(3 x 9) = (4 x 3)9 |
| Commutative Property | (x + 7) + 9 = 9 + (7 + x) |
| Commutative Property | 5 x 6 = 6 x 5 |
