| associative property | the way numbers are grouped when added or multiplied does not change the answer. |
| commutative property | the order numbers are added or multiplied does not change the answer |
| identity property of addition | the sum of an addend & 0 is the same as the addend |
| identity property of multiplication | the product of any factor & 1 is the same as the factor |
| additive inverse property | adding a number and it's opposite will produce a sum of zero |
| multiplicative inverse property | multiplying any number and it's inverse (reciprocal) equals one |
| associative property | (x + 7) + 9 = x +(7 + 9) |
