Argument and claim

Argument When the author wants to convince you of their position.
claims The author’s main point.
Evidence What the author uses to support their claim.
Counterclaim The opposite viewpoint of the author’s claim.
Rebuttal When the author responds directly to the counterclaim.
Credible The author is able to be believed and trusted.
Ethos emphasizes the speakers credibility and authority
pathos Appeals to audiences emotions
logos appeals to the audience's logic or reason
