Argument/claim terms

QuestionAnswer
Ethos Emphasizes the speakers credibility and authority.
Pathos Appeals to the audience's emotions. Ex: personal story, powerful image, or sad videos.
Logos Appeals to the audience's logic or reason. Ex: data, historical events, facts, test results,
Claim The author's main point, a statement he or she believes to be true, must be arguable and provable.
Credibility The author is able to be believed and trusted.
Relevant evidence What the author uses to support the claim.
counterclaim The opposite view point of the authors claim.
Rebuttal When the author responds directly to the counterclaim
Argument When the author wants to convince your of their position
