Argument/claim terms

TermDefinition
Ethos Emphasize the speakers credibility and authority. Examples titles, professions, celebrity endorsements, ect.
Pathos Appeals to the audiences emotions. Examples personal story, powerful image, or sad videos.
Logos Appeals to the audiences logic or reason. Examples data, historical events, facts, test results. ect.
Claim the authors main point, a statement he or she believes to be true, must be arguable and proven
Argument when the author wants to convince you of their position
Evidence what the author uses to support their claim
counterclaim the opposite viewpoint of the authors claim
Rebuttal when the author responds directly to the counterclaim
credibility the author is able to be believed and trusted
