Argument and Claim

TermDefinition
Claim The author’s main point.
Rebuttal When the author responds directly to the counterclaim.
Counterclaim The opposite viewpoint of the author’s claim.
relevant evidence What the author uses to support their claim.
credibility The author is able to be believed and trusted.
evidence
ethos Emphasizes the speakers credibility and authority. Conveys thrustworthienes ,expertise,values etc.
pathos Appeals to the audience's emotions. It is used to influence an audience to believe or do something
logos Appeals to the audiences logic or reason. Uses proof to influence an audience
