Algebra Terms

| Variable | A letter that represents an unknown value (varies); can use any letter |
| Constant | A term without a variable |
| Coefficient | The number part of a term with variables |
| Algebraic Expressions | Have at least one variable and one operation |
| Term | Either a single number or a variable, or numbers and variables multiplied together |
| Like Term | Two or more terms with the same variable or exponent |
| Sum | Answer to an addition problem |
| Difference | Answer to an subtraction problem |
| Product | Answer to an multiplication problem |
| Quotient | Answer to an division problem |
| Fewer than/less than | Subtract and reverse the order of the problem |
| How much more/less | Subtract |
| Percent or fraction of | Multiply |

| Is than/from/more than | Reverse the order |
| Associative property | The way in which numbers are grouped |
| Commutative property | The order in which numbers are added or multiplied |
| Identity property of addition | If you add any number to zero it will keep its identity |
| Identity property of multiplication | Multiply any number to 1 and it will keep its identity |
| Additive inverse property | Adding a number and it's opposite will produce a sum of zero |
| Multiplicative inverse property | Multiplying any number and its inverse equals 1 |
| Associative property | (x+7)+9= x+(7+9) |
| Associative property | 4(3x9)= (4x3)9 |
| Commutative property | (x+7)+9= 9+(7+x) |
