Algebra terms

| Algebraic expressions | Have at least one variable and one operation. |
| Variable | A letter that represents an unknown value(varies); can use any letter. |
| Constant | A term without a variable; numbers |
| coefficient | The number part of a term with variables |
| Term | Either a single number or a variable, or numbers and variables multiplied together. Are usually separated by addition and subtraction signs. |
| Like terms | Two or more terms with the same variable or exponent |
| difference | Answer to a subtraction problem |
| Sum | Answer to a addition problem |
| product | Answer to a multiplication problem |
| quotient | Answer to a division problem |
| Fewer than / less than | Subtract and reverse |
| How much more/less | subtract |
| % or fraction of | Multiply |
| each | divide |
| Than/from | reverse the order |
| associative property | The way in which numbers are grouped when added or multiplied does no change the answer |
| commutative property | The order in which numbers are added or multiplied does not change the answer |
| identify property of addition | The sum of an addend & zero is the same as the addend |
| identify property of multiplication | The product of any factor & one is the same as the factor |
| additive inverse property | Adding a number and it's opposite will produce a sum of zero |
| multiplicative inverse property | Multiplying any number and its inverse (reciprocal) equals one |
| Associative Property | (x + 7) + 9 = x + (7+9) |
| Associative Property | 4(3 x 9) = ( 4 x 3)9 |
| commutative Property | (x + 7) + 9 = 9 + (7 + x) |
| commutative Property | 5 x 6 = 6 x 5 |
| Identity property of addition | x + 0 = x |
