| Case Study (Single Subject) | Single subject – specific boundary of studying an individual or singular unit. |
| Phenomenology | Focus on lived experience, thematic analysis, set aside bias, it's the who or what |
| Ethnography | Lived experienced, immersion within a group or own experience, data collection based on photos, perceptions, personal experience |
| Case Study (Multiple Subject) | Examines two or more cases (multiple schools, teachers, programs, etc. |
| Narrative | Focuses on understanding and interpreting the stories people tell about their experiences |
| Evaluation | Focus on the value intervention of a program, aims to understand how and why of how something works. |
| Autoethnography | Researcher studies their own lived experiences and ties it to larger cultural, social or institutional context. |
