Case Study (Single Subject)

Single subject – specific boundary of studying an individual or singular unit.

Focus on lived experience, thematic analysis, set aside bias, it's the who or what

Lived experienced, immersion within a group or own experience, data collection based on photos, perceptions, personal experience

Case Study (Multiple Subject)

Examines two or more cases (multiple schools, teachers, programs, etc.

Focuses on understanding and interpreting the stories people tell about their experiences

Focus on the value intervention of a program, aims to understand how and why of how something works.

Researcher studies their own lived experiences and ties it to larger cultural, social or institutional context.

The researcher works with participants, stakeholders or community members throughout the research process. Knowledge is co-created with the researcher and participants
