Inherited Traits

Inherited Traits characteristic passed from parents to their offspring
Examples of Inherited Traits skin color, hair color, shapes of facial features, earlobe shape, tone of voice, ability to roll your tongue
Dominant Trait Strong trait. Only need one factor to be a dominant.
Examples of Dominant Traits Brown eyes, dark hair, curly hair, dimples, and freckles
Recessive Trait Weak Trait - Only appears if an organism has two recessive factors for the trait.
Examples of Recessive Traits Blue eyes, green eyes, blonde hair, red hair,
Acquired characteristic a feature of a living thing that is caused by its environment
Instinct Behaviors that animals know how to do without being taught
Migration Moving from certain types of weather during different seasons.
learned behaviors Things that can be learned and are not insticts.
Examples of Instincts birds nesting, breathing, baby crying, bees getting nectar, herding with certain animals, barking
Hibernation a long period of inactivity that some animals do.
