Argument/Claim Terms
| Term | Definition |

| Argument | When the author wants to convince you of their position. |
| Claim | The author's main point. |
| Evidence | What the author uses to support their claim. |
| Counterclaim | The opposite viewpoint of the author's claim. |
| Rebuttal | When the author responds directly to the counterclaim. |
| Credibility | The author is able to be believed and trusted. |
| Ethos | Emphasizes the speakers credibility and authority. Authority conveys trustworthiness, expertise, shared values, etc.. |
| Pathos | Appeals to the audiences emotions. Pathos is used to influence the audience to be desired belief or action. |
| Logos | Appeals to the audiences logic or reason. Logos uses any form or proof to influence an audience. |
