Algebra Terms

| variable | a letter that represents a unknown value you can use any letter |
| constant | a term without a variable ; numbers |
| coefficient | the number part of a term |
| term | Is either a single number or variable, or variables multiplied together. Terms are usually separated by addition and subtraction signs. |
| like term | Two or more terms of the same variable or exponent |
| algebraic expression | they have at least one variable and one operation |
| sum | the answer of an addition equation |
| altogether | an addition equation |
| how much more/less | subtraction |
| difference | the answer to a subtraction problem |
| less than | subtraction |
| proudct | the answer to a multiplication equation |
| % or fraction of | multiply |
| quotient | the answer to a division equation |
| per | divide |
| each | divide |
| than/from | reverse the order |
| associative property | The way in which numbers are grouped when added or multiplied does not change the answer |
| commutative property | The order which numbers are added or multiplied does not change the answer |
| identity property of addition | The sum of an addend and zero is the same as the addend |
| identity property of multiplication | The product of any factor and one is the same as the factor |
| additive inverse property | adding a number and it's opposite will produce a sum of zero |
| multiplicative inverse property | multiplying any number and it's inverse |
| associative property | (x + 7) + 9 = x + (7 + 9) |
| associative property | 4(3 x 9) = (4 x 3)9 |
| commutative property | (x + 7) + 9 = 9 + (7 + 9) |
| commutative property | 5 x 6 = 6 x 5 |
| identity property of addition | x + 0 = 0 |
| identity property of multiplication | 6(1) = 6 |
| multiplicative inverse property | 4 x 1/4 = 1 |
| additive inverse property | -5 + 5 = 0 |
