| Variable | a letter that represents an unknown value (varies) ; can use any letter |
| Constant | a term without a variable; numbers |
| coeifficent | the number part of a term with variables |
| Term | is either a single number or variable, or numbers and variables multiplied together. Term are usually separated by addition and subtraction signs. |
| like term | 2 or more terms with the same variable or exponient |
| Algebraic expressions | a language of symbols, including variables. |
| Sum | The sum is the answer of a addition problem |
| altogther | Altogether is another word for addition |
| Difference | Difference is the answer to a subtraction problem |
| how much more or less | how much more or less is a key word for subtraction |
| Product | the product is the answer to a multiplication problem |
| % or fraction of | multiply |
| less than | When you see less than it means subtraction |
| Quotient | quotient is the answer to a division problem |
| per | when you see per it means a key word for division |
| each | when you see each its a key word for division |
| Associative property | The way in which numbers are grouped when added or multiplied does not change the answer |
| Commutative property | The order in which numbers are added or multiplied does not change the answer |
| Identify property of addition | The sum of an addend & 0 is the same as the addend |
| Identify property of multiplication | The product of any factor & 1 is the same as the factor |
| Additive inverse property | adding a number to its opposite will produce a sum of zero |
| Multiplicative inverse property | Multiplying any number and its inverse (reciprocal) equal one |
| Associative property | (x + 7) + 9 = x + (7+9) |
| Associative property | 4(3 . 9) = (4 . 3)9 |
| Commutative property | (x+7) + 9 = 9 + (7 + x) |
