Algebra terms

| Variable | A letter that represents an unknown value(Varies); can use any number |
| constant | A term without a variable ( just a number all by itself like 3 or -3 |
| coefficient | the number part of a term with variables |
| term | is either a single number or variable, or numbers and variables multiplied together. Usally separated by addition or subtraction signs |
| like term | Two or more terms with the same variable or exponent |
| Algebraic Expressions | any mathematical statement which consists of numbers, variables and an arithmetic operation between them |
| sum | answer to an addition problem |
| difference | the answer to a subtraction problem |
| product | answer to a multiplication problem |
| quotient | answer to a division problem |
| fewer than OR less than | Subtracts & reverse |
| how much more/less | subtract |
| % or fraction OF | Multiply |
| 14 each | divide |
| is than/from | reverse the order |
| Associative property | the way numbers are grouped when added or multiplied does not change the answer |
| communtive property | The order in which numbers are added or multiplied does not change the answer |
| Identity property of addition | THe sum of a addend ( number) & 0 is the same as the addend (4+ |
| Identity property of Multiplication | The product of any factor & 1 is the same as the factor |
| Additive inverse | adding a number and its opposite will produce a sum of zero |
| multiplicative inverse | multiplying any number and its inverse ( reciprocal) equals one |
| associative prooperrty | (x+7)+9= x + (7+9) |
| communtive property | (x+7)+9= 9+ |
| identity property of additioin | x+0=x |
| identity property of multiplication | 6(1)=6 |
| multiplicative inverse property | 4x1/4=1 |
| additive inverse property | -5+5=0 |
| distribution property | 4(x+3)=4x+12 |
