variable a letter that reprensents an unknown value (varies). can use an letter. Ex. 7a + 4
Constant a term without a variable; numbers Ex 9x-2
coeficcient the number part of a term with variables Ex 8+1y
Algebra is a language of symbols, including variables.
Term is either a single number or a variable, or numbers and variables multiplied together. terms are usually separated by addition and subtraction signs ex 4q + 2y -7
like terms two or more terms with the same variable or exponent .
sum addition problem ex 5 +2
difference subtraction problem ex 5-2
product multiplication prromblem ex 5x2
qouttient division problem ex 5 divided by 2
