| additive inverse property | adding a number of its opposite will result in a sum of zero |
| multiplicative inverse property | multiplying any number and its inverse equals 1 |
| associative property | (x+7)+9=x+(7+9) |
| associative property | 4(3 x 9) = (4 x 3)9 |
| commutative property | (x+7)+9=9+(7+x) |
| commutative property | 5 x 6=6 x 5 |
| identity property of addition | x + 0 =x |
| identity property of multiplication | 6(1) = 6 |
| additive inverse property | -5 + 5 =0 |
| multiplicative inverse property | 4 x 1/4 =1 |
| distributive property | 4( x + 3) = 4x + 12 |
| distributive property | 16 + 40 = 8(2 + 5) |
