argument and claim

| ethos | emphasizes the speaker's credibility and authority. Examples: celebrity endorsements, titles, professions, etc. |
| pathos | appeals to the audience's emotions. Examples: personal story, powerful image, or sad videos |
| logos | appeals to the audience's logic or reason. Examples: data, historical events, facts test results, and personal experience |
| claim | the author's main point, a statement he or she believes to be true, must be arguable and provable |
| credibility | the another is able to be believed and trusted |
| argument | when the author wants to convince you of their position |
| evidence | what the author uses to support their claim |
| counter claim | the apposite viewpoint of the authors claim |
| rebuttal | when the author responds directly to the counter claim |
