| ethos | emphasizes the speakers credibility and authority. examples celebrity endorsements, titles, proffesions, etc |
| pathos | appeals to the audience's emotions. examples personal story, powerful image, or sad videos. |
| logos | appeals to the audiences logic or reason. examples data, historical events, facts, test results, and personal experience |
| claim | the authors main point, a statement he or she believes to be true, must be arguable and provable |
| argument | when the author wants to convince you of their position |
| claims | the authors main point |
| relevant evidence | what the author uses to support their claim |
| counterclaim | the opposite viewpoint of the authors claim |
| rebuttal | when the author responds directly to the counterclaim |
| credible | the author is able to be trusted |
