Argument/claim terms

QuestionAnswer
Ethos Emphasizes the speakers credibility and authority. Examples are celebrity endorsements, titles, professions, etc
Logos Appeals to the audience's logic or reason. Examples are Data, Historical events, Facts, Test results, and Personal Experience.
Pathos To persuade an audience by purposely evoking certain emotions to make them feel the way the author wants them to fee
Claim The authors main point
Credibility The author is able to be believed and trusted
Argument When the author wants to convince you of their position
Evidence What the author uses to support their claim
Counterclaim The opposite viewpoint of the authors claim
Rebuttal When the author responds directly to the counterclaim
