Argument/Claim Terms
| Term | Definition |

| Ethos (ethical appeal) | Emphasizes the speaker's credibility and authority. (celeb endorsements, titles, professions, etc.) |
| Pathos (emotion) | Appeals to the audiences emotions. (personal story, powerful image, or sad videos.) |
| Logos (reasoning) | Appeals to the audiences logic or reason. (data, historical events, facts, test results, personal experience.) |
| Claim | The authors main point, a statement that he or she believes to be true, must be arguable and provable. |
| Credibility | The author is able to be beloved and trusted. Look for credentials and backround, where the article was published, and cited reliable sources. |
| Reliable Evidence | Information or data that is trustworthy, accurate, and consistent, and can be verified with other sources. Ex: Facts, Statistics, Quotes, Expert Opinions |
| Arugement | When the author wants to convice you of their position. |
| Evidence | What the author uses to support their reasons. |
| Counterclaim | The oppisite viewpoint of the authors claim. |
| Rebuttal | When the author responds directly to the counterclaim. |
