| Coefficient | The number part of a term with variables. |

| Associative Property | The way in which numbers are grouped when added or multiplied does not change the answer. |
| Commutative Property | The order in which numbers are added or multiplied does not change the answer. |
| Identity Property of Addition | The sum of an addend & 0 is the same as the addend. |
| Identity Property of Multiplication | The product of any factor & 1 is the same as the factor. |
| Additive Inverse Property | Adding a number and its opposite will produce a sum of zero. |
| Multiplicative Inverse Property | Multiplying any number and its inverse (reciprocal) equals one. |
| Associative Property | (x + 7) + 9 = x + (7 + 9) |
