Algebra Vocab

Algebra A language of symbols,including variables.
Algebraic expression They have at least ONE variable and ONE operation EX: A+2, 5-B
Variable A letter that represents an unknown value, can use any letter. EX: 7A+4, 9X-2
Constant A term without variables;numbers EX: 7a=4, 8+y
Coefficient The number part of a term with variables. EX:7 A+4, 8+1Y
Term Is either a single number or variable,or numbers and variables multiplied together. Terms are usually separated by addition and subtraction signs.
like terms Two or more terms with the same variable or exponent. EX: 4ab+3a+2a
