what is the main function of the sympathetic nervous system? the sympathetic nervous system triggers the "fight or flight" response by increasing the heart rate, blood pressure, and energy supply while slowing down nonessential functions like digestion in preparation for stress.
what is the main function of the parasympathetic nervous system? the parasympathetic nervous system conserves energy by promoting the "rest and digest" process by slowing the heart rate and increasing digestion, and relaxing the body. It helps maintain daily bodily functions
What is the endocrine system made up of? a network of glands and organs including the hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroids, adrenals, pineal, pancreas, ovaries, and testes that produce and secrete hormones directly into the bloodstream to regulate bodily functions
what is lymph? How is lymph filtered? Lymph is a fluid that is clear, watery and pick up and contains protein molecules, salts and other substances. lymph is filtered through lymph nodes, and can only reenter the bloodstream through veins
Inhaling and exhaling, what happens inside the lungs? Inhaling- chemical energy (ATP) causes muscles to contract, which causes the alveoli to to be stretched open. exhaling- the muscles relax caused by elastic potential energy which causes the alveoli to recoil.
What is the function of bile? Bile emulsifies fat molecules
