| Indentured servant | a person contracted to work for 5-7 years in return for their journey to the colonies. |
| slave | a person who is taken against their will and forced to a lifetime of servitude |
| Town common | the center of a New England village |
| Apprentice | a person who learns a skill or trade from a professional in that area |
| Import | goods brought in from other locations |
| Export | goods that are sent to other locations to sell or trade |
| Agriculture | the business of farming and/or raising livestock |
| colonists elected, to speak on behalf of the people, to make laws for the colony | |
