13 Colonies

TermDefinition
Plantation A large farm specializing in cash crops
Indentured Servants A person contracted to work for 5-7 years in return for the journey to the 13 colonies
Slave A person who is taken against their will and forced to a life time of servitude
Town common The center of a New England village
Apprentice A person who learns a a skill or trade from a professional in that area
Import Goods brought in from other locations
Export Goods that are sent to other locations to sell or trade
Agriculture The business of farming and/or raising livestock
Colonial Assemblies Colonists elected to speak on behalf of the people to make new laws
Royal Governor A leader appointed by the king to enforce British rule in the colonies
Surplus An extra supply of goods
Merchant A person who buys and sells goods
Natural Resources Things found in nature to benefit people
Colony A territory settled by people by another country and controlled by that country
