| indentured servant | a person contracted to work for 5-7 years in return for their journey to the colonies |
| slave | a person taken against their will and forced to a lifetime of servitude |
| town common | the center of a village |
| apprentice | a person who learns a skill from a professional in that area |
| import | goods brought in from other locations |
| export | goods sent to other locations to sell or trade |
| agriculture | business of farming and or raising livestock |
| colonial assemblies | colonists elected to speak for the people/make laws |
| royal governor | people told by the king to enforce british rule in the colonies |
| surplus | extra supply of goods |
| merchant | a person who buy and sells goods |
| natural resources | things found in nature that are good for people |
| colony | land settled by another country and enforced by that country |
